Team Relay 7k, 14k, 21k Walk or Run

Ever wanted to enter a marathon, but didnt want to go it alone? Well now you don’t have to… the Dollar A K Team Relay Marathon let’s you participate in a Marathon as part of a team!

That’s right… 3 of your family, work mates or friends can TEAM UP TO RUN A MARATHON TOGETHER! Whatever your fitness level, there is a distance for you, choose from a 21k (half marathon), 14k or a 7k course.

If you dont have a team, or you need to fill a space in your team, email me on lifenet@xtra.co.nz and I may be able to put you in touch with others who can offer you a space in their team, or fill a space in your team.

In this charity relay we are encouraging people to Run a Mile in Someone Else's Shoes. The organiser’s will contribute $1 A K from your entry fee to those living on $1 A Day. That means for every team entry we will donate $42!

The event will start at Fergusson Park and be run as a relay. Instead of passing on the baton, teams will pass on their team race number, starting with the 7k first, then 14k, and lastly the 21k. Each participant will have their time recorded as they complete their leg of the run, then they will go to the transition area and pass the race number onto the next team mate, and so on. Once the last participant has completed the 42k course, they will find the rest of team and THE WHOLE TEAM WILL RUN THE FINAL 200M OF THE MARATHON DISTANCE TOGETHER – un-timed. The official time will have been taken at the 42k mark. Only teams who run the last 200m together will be eligible for prizes.

All legs of the relay will start, transition and finish at Fergusson Park, where we will have a sausage sizzle with steak sammies, and a selection of muffins, sandwiches and drinks available for purchase while you are waiting for your team mates! All proceeds from food sales go to Women's Empowerment Projects in Cambodia.

The funds raised from this event will go towards a much needed Water and Sanitation Project in Koh Andaet Area Development Program in Cambodia. World Vision NZ have initiated this project and it is being funded completely by NZ'ers! The project will improve the health of 11,070 community members in 26 villages in the Koh Andaet area, including 2820 children. Come on Tauranga, let's get involved... what a great opportunity to get fit and focussed, and also help out such a great and worthwhile project.
